Farsi Keyboard Online

Type Persian letters with a free virtual keyboard. Learn the Windows, Mac and mobile setup steps, and distinguish typing tools from physical key tests.

Type Persian without installing a keyboard

Click the letter keys above to build Persian text in the display. Use Space and Backspace to edit, and the clear button to start again. The text is assembled in your browser; the tool does not send it to our server.

This is a virtual typing keyboard. Clicking an onscreen key does not check whether the corresponding physical switch works. Use the physical keyboard tester for that task.

Set up Persian typing on Windows

On Windows 11, open Settings > Time & language > Language & region. Add Persian under Preferred languages, then open the language options and add the keyboard layout you need. Use Windows + Space to switch installed layouts.

Windows 10 uses Settings > Time & Language > Language. Its standard support ended in October 2025; check Microsoft’s current support options if you still use it. Microsoft’s language and keyboard guide covers both versions.

Set up Persian typing on Mac

Open System Settings > Keyboard. Under Text Input, choose Edit, then add an input source. Select the Persian layout you want and use the Input menu to switch languages.

The standard input-source shortcuts are Control + Space and Control + Option + Space. Command + Space normally opens Spotlight. Shortcuts may differ if you have customized them; check Keyboard Shortcuts in System Settings.

Type on a phone or tablet

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard and select Persian. Use the globe key to change keyboards. On Android, add Persian in your installed keyboard app’s language settings; the steps vary by app and device.

If the wrong characters appear

Check the selected input language before changing drivers. The symbols printed on a physical keyboard do not determine the active software layout. If characters display as empty boxes in one app but work in another, check that app’s font and text support.

Right-to-left text can contain left-to-right numbers and Latin words. An insertion point that moves unexpectedly can be a text-direction issue rather than a faulty key. Compare a short sample in another editor.

For missing physical key presses, run the keyboard tester and follow the keyboard troubleshooting guide. For a different language, try the other typing keyboard or browse language keyboard layouts.

Persian and Arabic letters are not always interchangeable

Persian uses additional letters such as پ, چ, ژ and گ. Its ی and ک also differ from Arabic ي and ك. Choose the intended language layout when preparing text for search, documents or forms, even when the glyphs look similar.
